The Maya fell because the had consumed too many resources and the Romans had a too high defense budget. Both apply to US but won’t cause our demise.
“Demise” is another question entirely. I don’t suspect the US will disintegrate as a country. However, I don’t see any reason to suspect we will be immune from the fall from dominance that not one previous great power seems to have been spared.
